Doyle Branch Spotlight Volume 2: The Ride for Roswell in Buffalo

On June 26th and 27th, 2015, Doyle Security Systems employee Sandy Perkins will ride in her sixth Ride for Roswell. The bike ride, which covers 65.5 miles, is an annual fundraiser with all proceeds benefitting the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY.

For Sandy, the event is close to her heart; “I ride with my grandmother in mind. She raised me from 18 months old after my mother passed away from brain cancer. When I was 6, she developed breast cancer and became a survivor!”

The Ride for Roswell is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2015 and hopes to exceed the staggering contributions from previous years. In 2014 alone, over 8,000 riders raised $4.4 million in proceeds, which are used for cancer research and patient treatments. Sandy has noticed the direct impact that the Institute is having on battling cancer; “I was on vacation recently in Virginia and there was a segment on the local news about discoveries made at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute! Every day new treatments are being discovered and more and more people are surviving.”

Sandy has been an employee with Doyle Security Systems for an astounding 40 years and is very proud of the company she works for. Speaking of Doyle Security, Sandy says “Doyle as a company has been so supportive [of the Ride for Roswell] and so many coworkers have contributed to the Ride. It’s wonderful when a company actually cares about helping others; most just talk about it, Doyle Security walks the walk.”

So far, the 2015 Ride for Roswell has 7,482 registered riders and has risen over $2.2 million. There is still time to register to be either a rider or an event volunteer and there is always time to donate!
