This Sunday, October 18th, members of Doyle Security Systems will be walking in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Rochester, NY. The walk, which starts at Frontier Field, raises funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society, with an emphasis on Breast Cancer.

Breast Cancer is the second most diagnosed form of cancer in American Women. There is a one in eight chance that a woman will have invasive breast cancer at some point in her life; in fact, there have been about 232,000 new diagnoses of breast cancer so far in 2015.

In response to these alarming statistics, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer was conceived in 1993 with the intent to fund research for a cure and to aid those being treated for the disease. In its 22 year history, 11 million Americans have walked in the event, helping to raise over $685 million. In 2014 alone, $64 million was raised for the cause.

For Doyle Security, the cause is close to our hearts. The team is captained by Operations Administrator Sheila DeSimone, a Doyle employee of over 30 years. In December 2002, Shelia was diagnosed with Stage Two Breast Cancer and is now a proud 13 year survivor of the disease. Throughout her journey, Shelia has helped to inspire and educate, as well as raised thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society.

Doyle Security is proud to walk with Shelia and the hundreds of other survivors on October 18th. For those interested in participating, registration begins at Frontier Field (1 Morrie Silver Way, Rochester, NY) at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 10:00 a.m. Donations are greatly appreciated and can be made by clicking here.
