A fire is spreading rapidly in your home. In just minutes, thick black smoke will fill the rooms and overwhelm your ability to move. What do you do?
Follow your emergency exit plan and get to your designated meeting place.
Stay as low to the ground as you can to avoid the smoke while you move quickly to the exit. Check each door with the back of your hand before opening --- do not open the door if it feels hot. In just 4 minutes after a fire has started, the temperature can climb to as high 1,000 degrees!
If your exit path is blocked, get to a room with a window and close the door, placing towels under the door to keep out smoke. Open the window, yell for help, and wait for the fire department to rescue you.
You are going away on vacation for two weeks and your house will be empty the entire time. you prevent the chance of a break-in?
Set interior lights on timers that will turn on and off at different times throughout the day, giving the appearance that someone is home.
Let your neighbors know you will be away and ask them to pick up any fliers or newspapers that may come.
Arrange to have your grass cut/snow removed while you are away.
Don’t stop your mail and newspaper. Instead ask a neighbor to pick them up for you.
Your neighborhood has had several break-ins. How do you keep your home from being next?
Make it harder to enter by locking all doors and windows.
Have quality locks and dead bolts with heavy-duty 1-inch throws installed.
Don’t leave valuables such as jewelry and money in plain sight from windows.
Make sure you have a window sticker or lawn sign indicating your Doyle Security System and it is visible and in good condition. Most burglars will avoid homes that they think are either difficult to break into or have a monitored alarm system.
